BrahMos, the deadliest missile in the world, is made by Russia and India. It is mainly known for its supersonic speed. Since it is the fastest cruise missile, it is a definite war winner. But, what makes the missile so dangerous?

First of all, BrahMos is a joint venture between the Indian Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Russian Federation’s NPO Mashinostroyeniya. These companies together have formed BrahMos Aerospace, which holds all the responsibility of BrahMos.

BrahMos has several unique features that will blow your mind:

BrahMos features a supersonic speed of Mach 3.

Mach 3 means three times the speed of sound. Thus, it travels faster than the speed of sound! Kinetic energy, which causes the destruction, is proportional to the square of speed. This means, BrahMos, with Mach 3 speed, causes nine times more severe destruction than its subsonic counterparts. That’s deadly.

BrahMos reaches its target in just over five minutes.

Since it is a supersonic missile, it does not take much time to reach the target. So, the enemy barely gets time to detect the missile. BrahMos strikes before the enemy can act in defence. Once a BrahMos is launched, consider the enemy destroyed.

BrahMos is undetectable by enemy radar.

The enemy will not see BrahMos coming or detect it on the radar. This is because of BrahMos’ sea-skimming missile technology. In simple words, it cruises too close to the sea to not get detected. However, if it still gets detected, there is nothing the enemy could do since, first of all, they have no time and secondly, they can’t stop incoming missile at supersonic speed. Barring a few, no country has the anti-BrahMos missile.

BrahMos can be launched from a submarine, ship, aircraft or land.

But, BrahMos has different variants for each of these. It has the Land-Launch for land. It can be fired from the surface with the use of specially designed BrahMos Launcher Vehicles. For the air launch, the BrahMos-A variant can be carried and fired by a SU-30 fighter plane. Lastly, for submarines and ships, the original BrahMos-Antiship is used. All in all, it can be used by the Navy, Airforce, as well as Army, and can be fired at targets on sea, land, or air.

This way, the BrahMos is the deadliest missile in the world. But BrahMos Aerospace is currently working on the Hypersonic version of BrahMos. Little does the world know that the deadlier versions of the deadliest are yet to show up!
